I've seen entries my sister made for the #InspiredbyChallenge as well as a (much cuter) card with a detailed die cut used for a decorative egg by #sarahsstampinretreat. The lavender card stock, ribbon, background stamp and Teeny Tiny Wishes sentiment was from Stampin' Up! The gold card stock came from my stash, the egg was another alcohol ink experiment that I finally put to use and the Momenta die was a bargain I found at Hobby Lobby.<p></p><div><br /></div>Ellen C.http://www.blogger.com/profile/03546264436305692414noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7008119479149973805.post-55028813036842769622023-03-14T14:55:00.001-07:002023-03-14T16:11:55.806-07:00Happy Birthday, Lawn Fawn!<p></p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEin_KlePgKIYBZ096wkolUEO7JHhcQxeeLQx_OHaIbmbcZ-7DC24P4invarv6sLE6XWNRYPsZivHmEhyzVAfeZWyMxxlz-ZOUs7lWzI3ImoNo7mtnU-kU_Syy9j_V_QRge_FtklPdYJEtZtJuKt_YDqcrJvVu-dV9tDsitoYhP-34ACyJE6wkEAhvyG/s3513/IMG_5503.jpeg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="3513" data-original-width="2725" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEin_KlePgKIYBZ096wkolUEO7JHhcQxeeLQx_OHaIbmbcZ-7DC24P4invarv6sLE6XWNRYPsZivHmEhyzVAfeZWyMxxlz-ZOUs7lWzI3ImoNo7mtnU-kU_Syy9j_V_QRge_FtklPdYJEtZtJuKt_YDqcrJvVu-dV9tDsitoYhP-34ACyJE6wkEAhvyG/s320/IMG_5503.jpeg" width="248" /></a></div><p></p><p>I made this card for <a href="https://www.lawnfawnatics.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/03/144.jpg">Lawn Fawn Challenge #144</a> All Things Birthday, and originally posted it to my Instagram account, but couldn't get that to link up to the InLinkz group for some reason (I'm technologically challenged, and didn't want to ask my son for help since I plan to give him this card). The large butterfly is one of my favorite stamps since it makes such a great card-filler and can be done in unlimited color combinations. This time, I chose to emboss not only the details, but the colored parts as well, adding some embossing glaze, and layering the body to make it pop out. I decided to layer it on a pierced background I use for many occasions. There are always people who need some encouragement and I hope this card will brighten the day of one in particular.</p><p><br /></p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhT1-lsbSDZhhrC717DPK95do3338yTFi_FBLo389kffh41K8XjcT-Xz_ZYtM1tJn4pt23cJRmhJJIYu2pDQVHXesh2oKmB5mSw5JDlw6fnpvHo7YsFMxRzMaIL3uVc9CZnRuXn1TQnK-KfQscAr1Bbpy6uC4gzOtpc5xoN8TxkIphVdBamoL_lfUQ3/s3300/ECoatshereforyou.heic" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="3300" data-original-width="2732" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhT1-lsbSDZhhrC717DPK95do3338yTFi_FBLo389kffh41K8XjcT-Xz_ZYtM1tJn4pt23cJRmhJJIYu2pDQVHXesh2oKmB5mSw5JDlw6fnpvHo7YsFMxRzMaIL3uVc9CZnRuXn1TQnK-KfQscAr1Bbpy6uC4gzOtpc5xoN8TxkIphVdBamoL_lfUQ3/s320/ECoatshereforyou.heic" width="265" /></a></div><br /><p><i>Supplies: Pink & Main Dearest Friend stamps, Versafine Onyx Black ink, Simon Says Stamp Detail Ringlet Plate and black card stock, Studio 18 rhinestones, Stampin' Up So Saffron ribbon and card stock, Neenah Solar White card base, Copic markers, Tim Holtz Saltwater Taffy embossing glaze, Versamark and Ranger embossing pen. </i></p>Ellen C.http://www.blogger.com/profile/03546264436305692414noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7008119479149973805.post-33657335332233600622023-02-26T14:59:00.001-08:002023-02-26T15:03:16.555-08:00A Pizza My Heart<p></p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhUmLPFQCS2ml6-l0AHOeWjPqdusQ5_17EF0A_8SDtPCYmN9azdTwgmQ7BY6-id2I1yrd609GnlUop-i-nr0R4jzjInPbyIP1fI9RAW_HtUfGO0a37DX-sCPSbu96oN_LeXxm0MSMlZRO60fEtKB7n5PobMOxpT_LCyekC8C-dZdUyZcBe8TH-mk1Kq/s2024/EllenCPizzaMyHeart.heic" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="2024" data-original-width="1634" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhUmLPFQCS2ml6-l0AHOeWjPqdusQ5_17EF0A_8SDtPCYmN9azdTwgmQ7BY6-id2I1yrd609GnlUop-i-nr0R4jzjInPbyIP1fI9RAW_HtUfGO0a37DX-sCPSbu96oN_LeXxm0MSMlZRO60fEtKB7n5PobMOxpT_LCyekC8C-dZdUyZcBe8TH-mk1Kq/s320/EllenCPizzaMyHeart.heic" width="258" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">This Valentine's Day I chose to forego hearts, roses, and even chocolate (not in real life, of course)! My son was giving me a hard time for making more than one Valentine card, but I insisted that this holiday gave the perfect excuse to share my love for multiple people and I set out to make something really <i>cheesy</i> to express my heartfelt wishes for family and friends this season! </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">One of the things I like most about paper crafting is the ability to tailor-make cards for each recipient. The one for my daughter included a huge chunk of cheese, my mom's card included a dimensional cookie jar on the shelf (also from Hero Arts), my son's pizza was plain pepperoni with a take-out box from Lawn Fawn's Pizza My Heart set, while my husband had mushrooms and green peppers on top of a heart-shaped pizza; each to reflect their taste and our relationship. My brother even commented that he would keep this card on display past the holiday!</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">I combined some of my favorite stamp and die sets to create this one-of-a-kind card for my crafty sister and put lots of love into it in the process. I opted to follow the <a href="https://cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0034/2668/0896/files/VanessaSketch532.jpg?v=1615266058">figurative sketch pattern</a> posted by Vanessa Menhorn on the MFT site rather than the shape-specific star design since I found her card so attractive and thought it might work with my farm animals. Then, I tried to figure out how to put everything together without doing a bunch of fussy cutting for physical layers. I first considered stamping the animals on acetate and laying that over the background stamp, but once I mastered stamping in StazOn on the ultra smooth surface and got all the animals masked and layered with a bale of hay and feeding trough, I soon realized how crazy hard it was to color those images smoothly! So, after what seems like a dozen attempts, I ended up with fewer images stamped on card stock, masked before adding the background stamp and blending the background, then coloring with Copics. I couldn't locate the balloons I wanted, so I used another set (even though these strings were not as long as I really wanted) and then I made the mistake of squirting way too much glossy accents on them. . . I nearly didn't post this (ideally the chicks should be further down and the hen shouldn't have a speck on her body); but I spent too much of my Saturday to pretend this didn't happen! At least I learned something from the process and now have a card that is perfect for my friend, Sarah which are two things I appreciate about completing the weekly challenges!<p></p><p><i>Supplies: My Favorite Things The Whole Herd, Happy Birthday background stamp, Sweet Succulent sentiment, Bentley Bear by Adam Pescott (balloons), Ranger glossy Accents, Copic markers, Memento Tuxedo Black and Versamark ink, Neenah Solar white card stock, Stampin' Up! And why is a kruddy car called a lemon? I know it's a rabbit hole that I could easily investigate as I sit here at the computer, but for now I'll leave it a mystery.</p><p>I actually like lemons, I adore fresh squeezed lemonade and I frequently use lemon juice in marinades and/or baking! When I saw the colors for this week's <a href="https://mftstamps.com/blogs/news/cc159">My Favorite Things Color Challenge #159</a>, I decided right away to use the Main Squeeze stamp set along with some watercolors for the fun of it.</p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiG27Ieh6-iTinqe-CLIDoCcHTBW3_IN0FwXq-2fXqYDkdLQRDcNmdsBMHIjmb067R5yCTzZrXS-fl6ATUok-Ad9nZ4zW-kNlBonLFCdb6QlJaY8nopZtgA-yqDju2Kfseca0RRfi4LnKs/s2048/IMG-1352.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1660" data-original-width="2048" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiG27Ieh6-iTinqe-CLIDoCcHTBW3_IN0FwXq-2fXqYDkdLQRDcNmdsBMHIjmb067R5yCTzZrXS-fl6ATUok-Ad9nZ4zW-kNlBonLFCdb6QlJaY8nopZtgA-yqDju2Kfseca0RRfi4LnKs/s320/IMG-1352.jpg" width="320" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">I used Tim Holtz distress ink for the grapesicle-like background and scraps of card stock for the die cut and mat. She loves watching hummingbirds from her porch swing on her back porch, overlooking the lake, so I used one as my focal point with a blended blue sky (or lake) behind it. I also used some MFT clear embellishments in addition to the flower accents. It could look a bit more festive, but on a gloomy and rainy day, my mood was more one of restfulness and tranquility than celebration. She has such a pleasant, positive personality I hope she likes it and understands that the understated appearance still conveys heartfelt wishes.</p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEieMox5Ny1BE2FkhvKk_hkvWUYUn6WucidrwaPkBqzXK58_zwzt9CcDYL45mp0ZTLNzIYWC6TB5Gp5sjmuuD1hBCvGrsAeLMNmcxydYaFfwONK_dtM0FgYUUIQlBlRwHa4PFSgFN5W-FzY/s2048/MFTSC526.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="2048" data-original-width="1538" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEieMox5Ny1BE2FkhvKk_hkvWUYUn6WucidrwaPkBqzXK58_zwzt9CcDYL45mp0ZTLNzIYWC6TB5Gp5sjmuuD1hBCvGrsAeLMNmcxydYaFfwONK_dtM0FgYUUIQlBlRwHa4PFSgFN5W-FzY/s320/MFTSC526.jpg" /></a></div><br /> </div><br /><p><i>Supplies: My Favorite Things Happy Hummingbirds stamps and dies, clear embellishments, yellow flock, Memento Tuxedo, Versafine Onyx ink, Tim Holtz distress inks and assorted Copics.</i></p>Ellen C.http://www.blogger.com/profile/03546264436305692414noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7008119479149973805.post-91769143357268756742021-01-24T15:24:00.003-08:002021-01-24T15:24:15.688-08:00Panda Valentine<p><a href="https://cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0034/2668/0896/files/MFT_WSC_525.jpg?v=1611092404">My Favorite Things Sketch Challenge 525</a> gave me another opportunity to create a non-traditional Valentine and I've decided that all the cards I make for the holiday this year will be that way (except for the one I already completed on a previous challenge that I finished too late for in In Link party), but never mind. Let's just say I like the idea of non-conventional cards and as you can tell from previous posts, I really like the Happy Pandas for most all occasions! This sketch allowed me to show them peeking out for a cute, playful look with what I hope will be received as a heart-warming message. I can't believe we haven't seen each other in person for over a year, but we talk on the phone, text and share photos, so thankfully, it doesn't feel like we're out of touch; I just I miss being with her and sharing the aroma of our home-made goodies. </p><p>The last time I used this color challenge, it was perfect for a baby card, but I think it worked just as well for this cozy kitchen scene. </p><p></p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjq0oOyvhoV2fh-7oNP0fiDsGv6CJFPWhBbDhIeDYqK-em36ZK4Y4IlM8eQICO4OWYMxuoyhpAMpCM_atPVpXZx8rV4ABd8bsRk8aW_eNGOuS1TiU-gjfTZtOF_kG-Q1xNdiMhhpFO8cAU/s320/IMG_1261.jpg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="252" data-original-width="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjq0oOyvhoV2fh-7oNP0fiDsGv6CJFPWhBbDhIeDYqK-em36ZK4Y4IlM8eQICO4OWYMxuoyhpAMpCM_atPVpXZx8rV4ABd8bsRk8aW_eNGOuS1TiU-gjfTZtOF_kG-Q1xNdiMhhpFO8cAU/s0/IMG_1261.jpg" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhWId116lOTc2nP1J6eGiW_UZVPuNZFu7ZL7aklUtK-8u9mtVKDaert8gMYpimd8UGX9wlcRd3QnIhVv8my0wSU0LLNlt0vLv5uFCVL-ULCWP_MaJV3S_A1FL_CnhbT9toSCeQtR5aSgFw/" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img alt="" data-original-height="166" data-original-width="800" height="66" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhWId116lOTc2nP1J6eGiW_UZVPuNZFu7ZL7aklUtK-8u9mtVKDaert8gMYpimd8UGX9wlcRd3QnIhVv8my0wSU0LLNlt0vLv5uFCVL-ULCWP_MaJV3S_A1FL_CnhbT9toSCeQtR5aSgFw/" width="320" /></a></div></div><p></p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><i>Supplies: My Favorite Things Sweet Shop, Stitched dies, Stampin' Up! There were some diverse examples <a href="https://cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0034/2668/0896/files/LauraDovalo_WSC523_03-rect.jpg?v=1609942313">for inspiration </a>, so I felt free to make my own version of the sample design. <p></p><p>My husband needed a sympathy card for a cousin who passed away recently and since he's a huge hummingbird fan, I thought this would be an appropriate card for him to send. As I was sampling colors, however, I started to worry that the teal background I liked best might be too cheerful for a sympathy card. But then I decided that the bird on the branch looked rather contemplative and besides, sympathy cards should try to cheer people up a bit, so why not use some bold, happy colors?</p><p>I added the contrast of the white embossed, non-filled images since the blockiness of the design didn't fit the vibe of condolences (although I think I'll definitely use it for some contemporary hello cards in the future). </p><p><i>Supplies: MFT Happy Hummingbirds, Copic Markers, Wink of Stella, Neenah Solar white, Stampin' Up! I combined two new stamp sets to create the scene, and although I like the hillside lines, I felt they were a little too strong for the look I wanted (I should have stamped in gray, I guess), so I decided to add some white flock for some dimensional snow. I colored the polar bear with Copic E00 and N0 for a Grout Grayish look on the bear's fur and the penguin's nose and feet, then used a couple different blues for the Berrylicious and Blueberry scarves.<p></p><p><i>Supplies: My Favorite Things Polar Opposites, Sending a Flurry of Love, Copic markers, Stampin' Up Whisper White flock, Memento Tuxedo Black ink, Versamark, Fine detail white embossing powder, scraps of cardstock on a Neenah Solar white card base.</i></p>Ellen C.http://www.blogger.com/profile/03546264436305692414noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7008119479149973805.post-90142952970851920632021-01-04T12:57:00.005-08:002021-01-04T13:03:04.850-08:00Happy (Hummingbirds) New Year<p></p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhUBgp9Zpwsq5Lkd0jI-OXNQd_Dv6v34QerMLnXlcaOAqI3-BGCBx5HuUUhvYJN_HCRfLk6ZselcCZlJ8MiWWsBdgVnrEZi7PdJdg8V-M8s0JlJ0wlZ5-4t68qbP92O6X7CV_nE3tjkchw/s320/IMG_1010.jpg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="320" data-original-width="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhUBgp9Zpwsq5Lkd0jI-OXNQd_Dv6v34QerMLnXlcaOAqI3-BGCBx5HuUUhvYJN_HCRfLk6ZselcCZlJ8MiWWsBdgVnrEZi7PdJdg8V-M8s0JlJ0wlZ5-4t68qbP92O6X7CV_nE3tjkchw/s0/IMG_1010.jpg" /></a></div><div style="text-align: left;"><br /></div><div style="text-align: left;">It's always fun to play with new toys after Christmas, no matter what age you are. I may actually save this for a Christmas thank you, but either way, I'm glad I took on this unique combination of colors from <a href="https://cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0034/2668/0896/files/MFT_ColorChallenge_PaintBook__153.jpg?v=1605099885">My Favorite Things' Color Challenge #153</a> to stretch my creativity and put together some hues I might not have chosen for this time of year (if ever). I may still go back and add some faint water color ocean coloring around the ice berg before I send it, but overall I'm happy with it (and a little fearful of messing it up)!<p></p><p><i>Supplies: There She Goes stamps, random card stock, Copic markers and Derwent colored pencils, jute, Stampin' Up! border punch, Wink of Stella and Icicles. </i></p>Ellen C.http://www.blogger.com/profile/03546264436305692414noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7008119479149973805.post-26904568047925348612020-11-16T16:23:00.000-08:002020-11-16T16:23:27.876-08:00The Sky's the Limit<p></p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjm5GnTFNdvZYs__d6AzdcaZcEXx9S7fUnwpLDRP7jv9_QZdaox46Ant4aXd5uWbv5Z09M5z1DFia1Gp9IhHw4r4R8pSEgCnXgkUXRbWaWIjJcseItraLElzE3TAGrj4LIy8NOvMAxf7bo/s320/LNCMFTWSC515.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="320" data-original-width="248" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjm5GnTFNdvZYs__d6AzdcaZcEXx9S7fUnwpLDRP7jv9_QZdaox46Ant4aXd5uWbv5Z09M5z1DFia1Gp9IhHw4r4R8pSEgCnXgkUXRbWaWIjJcseItraLElzE3TAGrj4LIy8NOvMAxf7bo/s0/LNCMFTWSC515.jpg" /></a></div><br /> This week I took inspiration from <a href="https://cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0034/2668/0896/files/MFT_WSC_515.jpg?v=1605096972">My Favorite Things' Sketch Challenge #515</a> for the layout of another card to put in my Mom's Christmas collection of greetings to send her friends throughout the year to come. Now we send hand-made cards to friends & family which is not only great therapy but more meaningful for the recipients, too. And my Mom is not only a recipient of the occasional card I write inside to send her, but she often requests cards as gifts for Christmas and Mother's Day. So I"m working on finishing up a set of unique cards to give her this coming holiday season and decided to combine those efforts with <i><a href="https://mftstamps.com/blogs/news/wsc514">My Favorite Things' Sketch Challenge #514</a>.</i></p><p><i><br /></i></p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj0s0qoA1z7GhqPQ7tlZt-gUOb2DnPFYOPfHAbthDRMt8qJCTnNb9c7c9hHt_PHh3QwwiviBvHeIh6XvGryxCy1VJ_LOHr0YSNqYBje7ABEqbytQj7ZbyoJpsT4Stpq_QhpmjPm3NoVZaw/" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img alt="" data-original-height="1007" data-original-width="800" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj0s0qoA1z7GhqPQ7tlZt-gUOb2DnPFYOPfHAbthDRMt8qJCTnNb9c7c9hHt_PHh3QwwiviBvHeIh6XvGryxCy1VJ_LOHr0YSNqYBje7ABEqbytQj7ZbyoJpsT4Stpq_QhpmjPm3NoVZaw/" width="191" /></a></div>My mom loves flowers and her favorite color is orange, so I got out my MFT Fresh Cut Flowers and my Copic markers and created this fairly simple card (except for the color blending which is often a challenge). I may go back and put a different stamp on the sentiment; I had the Pandas set out, so this birthday greeting was handy, but not as pretty a script as I'd prefer for the otherwise elegant flowers. Oh well, there's always room for improvement and I'm not trying to hide that my cards are hand-made, one of a kind creations!<p></p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEir7CYy4pQGEtqqIvyZR9htZlIACJwYWuKU9moyT_22xbnoNVnyB7XzNzWn5Z-_1KjaIxsbkCKONw_67epLN4-iOdXARIs3ObWg7edB_eGVSmlk4MyP0rF8C92jFiCVCAvLgz0qfAKqLf0/s2048/LncMft514.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="2048" data-original-width="1602" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEir7CYy4pQGEtqqIvyZR9htZlIACJwYWuKU9moyT_22xbnoNVnyB7XzNzWn5Z-_1KjaIxsbkCKONw_67epLN4-iOdXARIs3ObWg7edB_eGVSmlk4MyP0rF8C92jFiCVCAvLgz0qfAKqLf0/s320/LncMft514.jpg" /></a></div><i><div><i><br /></i></div>Supplies: </i><i>MFT Fresh Cut flowers stamp set, sentiment from MFT Pandas, assorted Copic markers and scrap colored cardstock. </i><div><p><br /></p></div>Ellen C.http://www.blogger.com/profile/03546264436305692414noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7008119479149973805.post-59953980797205532842020-11-01T11:28:00.003-08:002020-11-01T11:28:25.606-08:00Nuts about you!<p></p><div style="text-align: right;"><div style="text-align: left;"><span style="color: #660000;">It's been a few weeks since I've successfully completed a card challenge within the time frame, but I had fun playing with the MFT squirrel stamp set I've come to love. He's not having the best semester at UGA this fall -it's hard to be a college student in the midst of a pandemic, to be on campus and yet mostly attend classes on Zoom, etc. Plus, Athens (Georgia) has become a national hot spot for the virus, so he's cautious about even leaving the dorm to get food (which is no longer the wide array of dining hall food courts that it used to be)! Anyway, I used the <a href="https://mftstamps.com/blogs/news/wsc507">My Favorite Things sketch challenge #507</a> to make him a card just because. I took my time and used colored pencils for a change, then added just a little dimension to the lamp shade and the little table. I think I'll use another sentiment from the same stamp set on the inside, the one that says "I've been thinking about you (in a normal, non-weird kinda way)"!<p></p><p><i>Supplies: MFT Our Story and Anything but Basic Encouragement stamp sets, Prismacolor pencils, Versafine Onyx black ink, Stampin' Up! I never win the random contests, so how do I stand a chance in one based on skill and talent? I'm a weeknight, weekend crafter with average aptitude at best! Then I thought, it doesn't matter so much who wins, when in fact everyone who creates a card to share with a family member, friend or colleague is a winner!</p><p>So, against my better judgment, I bravely took on the <a href="https://mftstamps.com/blogs/resources/2020-card-design-superstar-clean-simple-genius">My Favorite Things card design superstar clean and simple category </a> and this is what I made. </p><p>I used my MFT brick stencil as an embossing folder, but ran it through my machine on top of some fun foam circles, so that it highlights just part of the card. It makes the background look like the interior of my daughter's university housing, and since she's the intended recipient, it seemed perfect! I also did lots of fussy cutting and added some layers to the image as well as a very narrow mat. Although it's not a single layer card, I hope it still qualifies as clean and simple! I had exchanged the girl's face in the Our Story stamp before, and I just love putting the panda in the arm chair with a book! The girl's hands work well as paws, and this time I used Liquid Pearls to give them and the feet a little dimension, too. </p><p><i>Supplies: MFT Happy Pandas, Our Story, Small Brick Wall Stencil, Sweet Celebrations Paper Pad, Stampin' Up! I've had it for years, outside of its original packaging, of course!<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg67jFo0I9n_kInYGQp1_-M7JdyvNkx24r3ak41kvMUhWP1aPLyyZ86hFMdxF42Bw4J4_TQCsP_ZQBL5DzkDVkd-8ZQ-1eaU3w6_rMm0oC1kGdiW9eqh3aVmhFksCS9Vy9bjqeDkoznmrI/s135/Unknown+Hello+die.jpg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="84" data-original-width="135" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg67jFo0I9n_kInYGQp1_-M7JdyvNkx24r3ak41kvMUhWP1aPLyyZ86hFMdxF42Bw4J4_TQCsP_ZQBL5DzkDVkd-8ZQ-1eaU3w6_rMm0oC1kGdiW9eqh3aVmhFksCS9Vy9bjqeDkoznmrI/s0/Unknown+Hello+die.jpg" /></a></div><br /><div><p><i>Supplies: Tim Holtz Crazy Birds and Spiced Marmalade distress ink, Paper Smooches Bird Cage die, unknown sentiment die, Recollections feathers, Copic markers, Stampin' Up basic gray & whisper white card stock, Daffodil Delight ink, Ranger glossy accents, Paper Studio Entirely Textures and Craft Smith Yellows & Oranges paper, Wink of Stella and clear packing tape for a faux embossed sentiment.</i></p></div>Ellen C.http://www.blogger.com/profile/03546264436305692414noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7008119479149973805.post-75366648389445717862020-08-18T15:49:00.000-07:002020-08-18T15:49:38.299-07:00Hummingbird Hello<p></p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><img border="0" data-original-height="288" data-original-width="233" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEihNLdpdY3T6Ngi4D9kc3ur4Dy3OUQOETyHy_A9v5HPsusn_rNPNY-NDMpBGlRj0wIongkXgOHZ1teUNcNZrQ95Qerr9Ir4S-NpZqCUnqUf7Rp5IRok5tn6nlzTXp8m5WhLWd081xaw4mk/s0/MFTSC502hb.jpg" /></div> I made this for My Favorite Things' <a href="MFTSC502">Sketch Challenge #502 </a><p></p>Ellen C.http://www.blogger.com/profile/03546264436305692414noreply@blogger.com0
