Back to School!

Last week when my kids went back to school, I took on the Midweek OWH throwdown to create a chalkboard style card.  Like waking kids up early again after a weeks of sleeping in, this also proved to be difficult!

My first challenge was in selecting appropriate stamps for this particular style, then the actual stamping of the (near invisible) Versamark on black cardstock made it tricky to combine images well,  adding white embossing powder (even when I had remembered to use my embossing buddy) led to unwanted little white specks,  and finally lining up the stamps with white craft ink to make the chalky shadow took a few tries, too!  Whew!  Thankfully, chalkboards are messy, so I let go of perfection and embraced this fun, trendy theme!

I used Papertrey Ink Boutique Borders Birthday and Stampin' Up Morning Post Alphabet stamp sets.  found some random paper that looks like whitewashed wood, which I embossed with my Paper Studio wood grain folder,  cut it into strips and made my own frame, then mounted it all on DieCuts with a view silver script designer paper.
